About Lion's Mane
Our handcrafted lionfish jewelry transforms an environmental threat into one-of-a-kind ornaments.
We are a small, purpose-driven brand born on the Mediterranean coast of Byblos, Lebanon – where millennia of marine cultural heritage meet vibrant marine ecosystems.
Our journey began in 2022, after a few years of observing the expansion of the invasive lionfish and its devastating impact in our sea. We have been hunting it daily since 2017, and sell our catch to local restaurants, fisheries and customers to democratize its consumption.
But we always admired its beautiful colors and patterns, and we asked ourselves: how can we honor this beauty of nature, while helping to preserve our local marine life? From that vision, we began transforming one of the ocean’s most destructive invasive species into vibrant jewelry with a purpose.
Each piece we create is unique, handcrafted using lionfish fins and tails from our hunts. By repurposing this predator, we reduce its impact on local marine ecosystems, and support marine conservation efforts through the NGO Guardians of the Blue.
Our jewelry are more than accessories. They’re a commitment to conservation, restoration, craftsmanship, and to the belief that all marine life should be honored – even invasive ones.

FAQ
✷ Why lionfish?
The lionfish (Pterois miles) is an invasive non-indigenous species in the Mediterranean Sea. Its presence was first recorded in 2012, in Lebanon. Its population has been rapidly increasing since, threatening local marine life and ecosystems. We hunt lionfish daily on the coast of Byblos, and strive to promote its consumption and raise awareness on its presence. For more detailed information, check out our dedicated page on lionfish.
✷ What materials do you use in your jewelry?
Our pieces are made using ethically, locally and hand sourced lionfish pectoral fins and tails, obtained from the regular lionfish hunts we carry around the coast of Byblos. They are then encased in high-quality resin, and paired with gold-plated stainless steel components, freshwater pearls, and natural stones.
✷ Does the jewelry have a smell?
Not at all! The lionfish elements are carefully cleaned, treated, and sealed in resin to preserve their beauty and ensure they're completely scent-free.
✷ Is your jewelry safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. We use hypoallergenic materials that are free from lead and nickel, including gold-plated stainless steel, which is known for being gentle on sensitive skin.
✷ Will the jewelry tarnish or change color?
Our jewelry is made with gold-plated stainless steel, which is durable and resistant to tarnishing. With proper care, your pieces will continue to shine for a long time. The color of the lionfish fins and tails might slightly change over time.
✷ How do I take care of my jewelry?
In general, to keep your jewelry looking its best, we recommend to:
- Wipe gently with a soft microfiber cloth after wearing.
- Avoid contact with perfumes, lotions, oils, and chemicals (especially for pieces with pearls).
- Store in a dry place, ideally in a pouch or a box.
✷ Can I wear my jewelry in the shower or while swimming?
We recommend removing your jewelry before swimming, showering, or working out to protect the plating and resin elements. Water and chemicals (like chlorine or saltwater) can damage both the finish and delicate natural materials like pearls.
✷ Do you accept custom orders?
Yes, we would love to bring your ideas to life! If you have a vision for a custom jewelry piece, get in touch and we’ll do our best to create something special for you.
✷ Where do you ship from, and do you ship internationally?
At the moment, we only offer hand delivery. Our next batch of hand deliveries outside of Lebanon will take place from 3 to 13 June in Nice, France. Contact us for more information.
✷ Who makes the jewelry?
Every piece is handcrafted by us, Samer and Laura, with love and care in the beautiful city of Byblos.
